As the nation’s lead public health agency, in a large-scale radiation emergency, CDC will provide leadership and resources to protect the public’s health and assist state, local, tribal, and territorial officials in the response. To accomplish this, CDC has developed guidance, training, education, and tools related to nuclear/radiological preparedness and response for clinicians, public health professionals and the public. CDC also works with partners to identify and address gaps and needs, collaborates with state, local, territorial, and tribal jurisdictions (SLTTs) to share best practices for education and capacity-building, and participates in federal, state, and local exercises to assess and improve public health capabilities.
