The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is an organization of 67,000 pediatricians committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. The AAP supports radiation preparedness through the work of its membership by providing pediatric disaster preparedness, response and recovery recommendations as well as recommendations on caring for children before, during, and after radiological or nuclear emergencies. The AAP also supports families and communities with disaster readiness information to ensure the needs of children are considered when planning for radiological emergencies.
